Environments and Interaction Methods
Our virtual environment includes
3 scenes of different regions -- the sea, the shore
and sky, and space. In each of these scenes, the
audience interaction is based on light detection
and movement detection. The light detection is currently
divided into two colors, red and blue, each which
have their own interactions, although we have the
capability to detect more colors if the need arises.
We are using "raver rings" for the lights,
which are small two dollar plastic rings with LEDs
that light up when pressure is applied to the top
of the ring.
Transition
from scene to scene
The participants will be able
to navigate among scenes through interaction. In
every scene, there will be a red and blue colored
arrow along the perimeter for each adjacent scene
that can be traveled to. When a guest moves a light
over its matching half of the colored arrow (red
over red, blue over blue), the corresponding half
of the arrow will light up. Lighting up both halves
of an arrow will move to the scene the arrow points
to. The idea is that the guests will learn how to
navigate through experimentation and observation
of other guests. Dividing the arrow into two parts
will help encourage teamwork and interactivity among
the guests.
