This week we continued our sprint for our first prototype. After meeting with faculty this week we started thinking about how we can think more about what can we do to measure cognitive training and evaluate it based on the research we gained so far. We even submitted our halfsheet and poster this week.
We got a lot of feedback from faculty to look over the research papers once more to establish metrics we can use in our own prototypes. What we found is that there isn’t a lot of scientific evidence that supports that combined cognitive physical training (CCPT) or brain training has a long term effect based on past studies, but we did find some shared results that some CCPT does affect overall performance than just physical or cognitive training alone.
This week for our sprint we focused on the pattern recognition part of our prototype. In order to test guests we made some changes to our original design so that at the end of the prototype they are asked to repeat the pattern without a guide. Once we have finalized the pattern recognition then we can work on polishing the prototype for outside playtesting and also begin working on our second prototype.
We even began planning what we want to present to faculty for halves. Previously during quarters we had different reactions to what our projects was aiming for, so we started thinking more about how we are trying to articulate our project goals so that faculty better understands what we are researching.
