For the first week, the team members had a chance to gather around and set up the working routine for the upcoming project. Members discussed their skill sets and the roles were distributed accordingly. The team had plenty of engineering power which meant the project can potentially have more game figures which was a plus.
The team also talked with the instructors and clients to get a general feeling on the game. What was the expectation of the project? What’s the target audience? Thankfully, clients were quite focused on what they wanted from the team. The game should be a highly Cooperative game where two players worked together to demine a mine field. Instead of making a simulation software which strictly mimicked the reality, the game should provide an engaging gaming experience which leveled up audience’s interest on demining in real-world.
With all of the information in mind, the team began to do some first-step research into the video game market to find relevant references for possible game mechanism. Some references like Overcooked, Phasmophobia and Keep Talking are going to be the primary examples for a successful Co-op game.
