This week we had a client meeting on Monday to showcase our current progress and seek their opinions. They were satisfied with what we’ve done so far and agreed on our current approach of having a central control app on tour guides’ devices which controls the syncornized play of animation and sounds over other devices.

During the week, we worked on polishing the assets and integrate them together. Our artists modeled the dumper and created a draft version of the dumping animation. Our sound designer then synced the sound to it.

On Thursday, we went to the furnace again and tested our build there. The current build had certain bugs, but it mostly worked as we imagined. We noticed several technical difficulties. First of all, the shadow caused by the sunlight could be a severe problem for us to detect fiducials. We would like to keep testing, and be prepared for the worst scenario of using either QR code or aprialtags. Secondly, the network at the site is actually worse than expected. As we want to have a central control panel, we do need good internet connections. To solve that, our programmers are trying to see if they can find a way to create local host and let tourists join without using Wi-Fi signals.

Next week, we want to completely wrap up this car dumper effect and test it. We then will be pretty well prepared for the halves presentation.
