We continued our updates on art assets, sounds, and UI features this week. Our clients took a look at our new avatar options and expected more expressions from the avatar to enhance the connection between users in VR. Since we heard this request not just from clients but also many past playtesters too, the team decided to do more adjustments on the avatar’s facial appearance.

Beside implementing new features, the majority of our task this week was fixing existing bugs and applying modifications based on the feedback from clients and instructors. We had this week Saturday as our playtest day, which was a massive opportunity to get the last wave of player comments and experience feedback. Although we had already done more than enough playtest in the past few weeks, the playtest day could still be an insurance for us to ensure we went in the right direction and made the right amendment on our design flow.

Playtest day

The team prepared a google survey for the playtest day to gather playtester’s thoughts about our current build. We recepted 8 groups of playtesters and received comments on our prototypes. Most of the players express their appreciation on the pressure control of the paint brushes (which mimic the realistic brush characteristics) and the environment setting. However, we also got some feedback related to the frustration of control (especially the field of view, the pick up control, and the movement control.) Those datas demonstrated that the team still need to focus on the control aspect of the build and come up with a proceedable solution that can be implemented next week.
