PUPPETMASTER

The Puppet Master maps input device parts (currently MIDI sliders and Joystick) to body parts of models that are included in a specific scene. It is the final step of playing a scene. It opens .ssf files to create a new .pms (Puppet Master Setting). The mappings that were chosen in the VPM Manager are shown on the left side. The interaction with Puppet Master is as follows: 1. Open or create a .pms file. Click in the Model Mappings field to select a joint movement. Then click on an input in the right side list to map. Once they are both highlighted, the mapping is done. A used input is marked with an asterisk. Once all is ready, select This Computer in the Server field (unless networking), and click Start Puppeteering. Run The Stage to use the Puppet Master settings, but leave Puppet Master on. Multiple copies of Puppet Master can run simultaneously. This way, a single joystick input could control two objects simultaneously. This was necessary in creating one of the scenes in the movie last year.
