CLIENT PROGRAMMING
LANGUAGE COMPARISON

The client for Retro Robot was programmed using Visual C++ using DirectX 8.1 and Windows Sockets for networking. Below is a comparison chart of the different programming languages considered for the client. For Retro Robot, we wanted a solid graphics subsystem, good networking ability using sockets, sound mixing abilities, and ability to run as a standalone application. Furthermore, given the short nature of the project timeline, it was very important for us to use a programming language that we were already familiar with.
