EventScope's long-term goal is to develop a software teaching tool that lets students explore 3D representations of NASA mission sites such as Mars or the Moon. Their short-term goal to help bring this about is to design an interactive experience using the EventScope software at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
Our team's goal is to design and develop the technology that will be used at this exhibit, specifically the medium and the interface. The requirements for the medium is that it be durable and robust while the interface must be intuitive.
The medium we chose to pursue is a table that is front projected from above. The interaction is done by an infrared stylus that is tracked by a camera.
